Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad, Hyderabad (JNTUH) was established in 2002 with the support from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India, and now promoted by the University since the Financial Year 2008-2009. The Cell is recognized as one of best performing EDCs in India sanctioned by D.S.T., New Delhi. EDC conducts various programs to foster the Entrepreneurial spirit amongst the technically qualified Graduates & Post-Graduates from the Faculties of Science, Engineering & Technology and Pharmacy. This is carried out by conducting Entrepreneurship Awareness Camps (EACs), which can be both general and technically-specific in nature, over 3-Day duration and beyond.
An extended version of the EACs is the Entrepreneurship Development Programs (EDPs) which runs for a duration of 2 to 4 weeks. The aim of both the programs is to apprise the participants about the various Entrepreneurial opportunities that are existent and the support they can derive from EDC and all the agencies/ organizations which work with us. Participants of the EDPs are usually counseled and a follow-up mechanism is in place to track their progress in their respective projects.
As part of the ‘Train-the-Trainer’ concept, to further infuse the spirit of Entrepreneurship amongst the students of Science & Technology, EDC also has been conducting Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) for the benefit of the Faculty of the various Private Engineering Colleges under the purview of JNTUH and also participation is invited from all over the country. The FDPs is for a duration of 2-weeks, training to the Faculty who in turn help promote the cause of Entrepreneurship in the Institutions where they are employed.
Entrepreneurship Development Cell, JNTUH has organized in total One Hundred and one (101) on-campus and off-campus programs to promote Entrepreneurship as a career-choice amongst Technically-Qualified Graduates and also for Faculty Members of Engineering/ Polytechnic Institutions to promote Entrepreneurship in their respective Institutes. A total of 14,000 participants from various streams of Sciences, Engineering/Technology & Management and 24 Faculty Members of JNTUH participated in the programs.

Activities of Entrepreneurship Development Cell – 2020-21
Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) of the University was established in 2002 with support from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India. The Cell is recognized as one of best performing EDCs in India sanctioned by DST. The Government of India has identified ‘Entrepreneurship’ as one of the principal mechanisms for the mitigation of Unemployment and Under-employment amongst Science & Technology graduates in the country today. In order to make optimal use of facilities, expertise and know how available in the Technical Institutions for the benefit of the society, it has been necessary that appropriate links are established between institutions and the Industry. Special emphasis has been laid on Entrepreneurship and Self-Employment, keeping in view the present mandate of Trained Manpower that graduates out of Technical Institutions.
Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises – Technology Business Incubator (MSME-TBI) is a novel Scheme launched by the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise (MSME), Government of India (GoI), which aims at Identification and commercialization of Innovative Business Ideas. As a part of this scheme, Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), College of Engineering, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH) was approved during 2010-11 and recognized as one of the Host Institutions by the Ministry of MSME, GoI, to operate this scheme of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises.
EDC conducts various programs to foster the Entrepreneurial spirit amongst the technically qualified Graduates & Post-Graduates from the Faculty of Science, Engineering & Technology and Pharmacy. This is carried out by conducting Entrepreneurship Awareness Camps (EACs), which can be both general and technically-specific in nature, over 3-Day duration.
An extended version of the EACs is the Entrepreneurship Development Programs (EDPs) which runs for a duration of 2 to 4-weeks.
As part of the ‘Train-the-Trainer’ concept, to further infuse the spirit of Entrepreneurship amongst the students of Science & Technology, EDC also has been conducting Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) for the benefit of the Faculty of the various Private Engineering Colleges under the purview of JNTUH. Participation is also invited from all over the country. The FDPs is for a duration of 2-weeks, training to the Faculty who in turn help promote the cause of Entrepreneurship in the Institutions where they are employed.
Entrepreneurship Development Cell, JNTUH, has organized more than hundred on-campus and off-campus programs to promote Entrepreneurship as a career-choice amongst Technically-Qualified Graduates and also for Faculty Members of Engineering/ Polytechnic Institutions to promote Entrepreneurship in their respective Institutes. A total of more than 13,600 participants from various streams of Science, Engineering/Technology &Management, and 24 Faculty Members of JNTUH participated in the programs.
