About the Depatment

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering has been playing a vital role in producing Electrical Engineers and Technologists of highest competence ever since it was established in the year 1965, as Nagarjuna Sagar Engineering College at Masabtank, Hyderabad Campus. The Department since its inception, till 1972 conducted the four year B.Tech, course in Electrical Engineering under affiliation to Osmania University. In 1972 Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University was formed. The Five year B.Tech degree course was restructured into four year degree course and renamed as Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 1979. Presently the Department runs under graduate, post-graduate, Integrated Dual Degree Programme(IDP) and Doctoral Programmes to cater the ever challenging needs of technical excellence in all areas of Electrical Engineering. The Department is currently engaging in research in the areas of Electrical Engineering including Power Systems, Power Electronics and Drives, Power Converters, High Voltage Engineering, Control Systems, Artificial Intelligence Techniques, Renewable Energy resources and Electrical Vehicles etc.

The Department also offers the programs to cater the needs of Industries. In this stream, the Department is offering M.Tech (PTPG) in Electrical Power Systems and Power Electronics & Industrial Drives for the working professionals and scientists. The Department started offering the best technical education platform for the eastern state students (Mizoram/Sikkim/ Arunachal/Meghalaya/Nagaland etc..) and other part of Indian country like (Jammu Kashmir/Delhi/etc..) at UG level (Regular and Dual Degree programs), PG level with all specializations and Full-time and External Research programs. In the view of providing quality global education for the foreign nationals, the University has started DUFR (Director of University Foreign Relations) to offer technical education to the foreign national’s students from the Middle-East, Asian and African countries.

The Faculty members in the department are actively involved in research and consultancy services. The Department is offering research programs leading to Ph.D.s on regular and part-time basis. Also the Department has been getting research grants from various funding agencies. The performance of the students of this in the campus placement is encouraging. With the state of the art equipment in laboratories and highly qualified faculty, the Department is attracting top rankers of EAMCET who are molded to cater the industrial needs.
