ABOUT US
The Department of Mechanical Engineering is one of the departments existing since 1965, the year of inception of the College. The Department has qualified and experienced staff and well equipped laboratories. The Department is equipped with computer laboratory to meet the requirements of Undergraduate, Graduate and Research students.
VISION
“To produce competent, highly skilled and environment conscious technocrats by achieving excellence in teaching, research and innovations that exploits the rapidly changing technical diversity of Mechanical Engineering and also to transform them as entrepreneurs for building the Nation of self-reliance with Sound Economy”.
MISSION
- To offer a well-balanced course curriculum with a blend of practical exposure and skill development to make them globally competitive Mechanical Engineers.
- To impart Core as well as Interdisciplinary knowledge and to encourage students towards critical and logical thinking to enable them to conceptualize, innovate, interpret, design and develop products in various fields of Mechanical Engineering.
- To provide state of the art infrastructure required for skill development in mathematical modeling and simulation of physical processes as well as experimentation, instrumentation and process control.
- To encourage students to organize and attend curricular and co-curricular activities in order to inculcate team building and organizational skills.
- To create the environment for the students to understand the need for lifelong learning with a vision for themselves as well as for the society and the Nation at large.
PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs)
PEO1: To train graduate in scientific and engineering approach, so as to comprehend, analyze, design and develop novel products and provide creative
solutions with an ability to relate engineering issues to broader social context.
PEO2: To inculcate leadership qualities, entrepreneurial skills, ethical attitude, effective communication, social and behavioral skills for a successful professional
career.
PEO 3: To provide graduate with an excellent academic environment conducive to realize the importance of advanced, lifelong learning and pursue further studies in
emerging and multi disciplinary fields.
PROGRAMME OUTCOMES (POs)
PO1 : Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO2 : Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
PO3 : Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
PO4 : Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
PO5 : Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex
engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
PO6: The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
PO7 : Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

PSO1 : Analyze and design of Thermal systems and processes for energy conservation and sustainability.
PSO2 : Provide design, synthesis and optimum solutions to mechanical components.
PSO3 : Differentiate between different manufacturing processes and apply them along with principles of management science, planning and quality control for the
production of different components.
